About Conscious Pet Service

Started in 2003, my love of animals was the impetus for my business.

Love and positive connections seem essential in my experience and estimation, when working with animals. Early in my business I realized there was much more involved so I began researching best care for cats, dogs and exotics, learning from mentors in the industry, and also from hard work and experience. It is a cornerstone in my business to establish a positive, sensitive and respectful relationship with each animal I work with, and to collaborate with the animal’s guardian. In 2004 I learned how to administer medication to animals from a vet and an experienced pet sitter. I earned my certification for Animal First Aid and CPR from the Red Cross and Anti-Cruelty Society in 2005. I am also devoted to the welfare of animals who are not companion animals, including the feral cat colony I began caring for in 2006.

Max and Ruby were soulmates, only apart when Ruby went exploring. Ruby died last summer, so now it is just Max and Makita. When I started caring for the feral cats, there were about 50 cats between two alleys in my neighborhood.
